End of times \ Antichrist
Christians as a whole, and Mormons specifically believe in the second coming of Christ. There are what Christians call “The signs of the Times” and there will be an Antichrist. Many of the signs are terrifying and dreadful. The prophets have warned that the earth will experience great turmoil, wickedness, war, and suffering. The prophet Daniel said that the time before the Second Coming would be a time of trouble such as the earth has never known (see Daniel 12:1). The Lord said, “The love of men shall wax cold, and iniquity shall abound” (D&C 45:27). “And all things shall be in commotion; and … fear shall come upon all people” (D&C 88:91). We can expect earthquakes, disease, famines, great storms, lightnings, and thunder (see Matthew 24:7; D&C 88:90). Hailstorms will destroy the crops of the earth (see D&C 29:16). Jesus told his disciples that war would fill the earth: “Ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars. … For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom” (Matthew 24:6–7). These wars will continue until a great and final war, the most destructive the world has known. In the midst of this war the Savior will appear. (See Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p. 732.) Many of these signs are being fulfilled. Wickedness is everywhere. Nations are constantly at war. Earthquakes and other calamities are occurring. Many people now suffer from devastating storms, drought, hunger, and diseases. We can be certain that these calamities will become more severe before the Lord comes. No one except our Heavenly Father knows exactly when the Lord will come. The Savior taught this with the parable of the fig tree. He said that when we see a fig tree putting forth leaves, we can tell that summer will soon come. Likewise, when we see the signs described in the scriptures, we can know that his coming is near. (See Matthew 24:32–33.) The Lord gave these signs to help us. We can put our lives in order and prepare ourselves and our families for those things yet to come. We do not need to worry about the calamities but can look forward to the coming of the Savior and be glad. The Lord said, “Be not troubled, for, when all these things [the signs] shall come to pass, ye may know that the promises which have been made unto you shall be fulfilled” (D&C 45:35). He said those who are righteous when he comes will not be destroyed “but shall abide the day. And the earth shall be given them for an inheritance; … and their children shall grow up without sin. … For the Lord shall be in their midst, and his glory shall be upon them, and he will be their king and their lawgiver” (D&C 45:57–59). From the book of David. 1. He comes from among ten kings in the restored Roman Empire; his authority will have similarities to the ancient Babylonians, Persians, and Greeks [Daniel 7:24; Rev 13:2] And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his apower, and his seat, and great authority. 2. He will subdue three kings [Daniel 7:8, 24] 3. He is different from the other kings [Daniel 7:24] And the ten ahorns out of this kingdom are bten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. 4. He will rise from obscurity…a “little horn” [Daniel 7:8] 5. He will speak boastfully [Daniel 7:8; Rev 13:5] 6. He will blaspheme God, [Daniel 7:25; 11:36; Rev 13:5] slandering His Name, dwelling place, and departed Christians and Old Testament saints [Rev 13:6] 7. He will oppress the saints and be successful for 3 ½ years [Daniel 7:25; Rev 13:5,7] And there was given unto him a amouth speaking great things and bblasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 8. He will try to change the calendar, perhaps to define a new era, related to himself [Daniel 7:25] And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall awear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. 9. He will try to change the laws, perhaps to gain an advantage for his new kingdom and era [Dan 7:25] 10. He will not be succeeded by another earthly ruler, but by Christ [Daniel 7:26-27] 11. He will confirm a covenant with “many”, i.e. the Jewish people [Daniel 9:27] This covenant will likely involve the establishment of a Jewish Temple in Jerusalem [see Dan 9:27; Matt 24:15] And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of aabominations he shall make it bdesolate, even until the cconsummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. 12. He will put an end to Jewish sacrifice and offerings after 3 ½ years and will set up an abomination to God in the Temple [Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15] When ye therefore shall see the aabomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the bholy place, (whoso readeth, let him cunderstand) 13. He will not answer to a higher earthly authority; “He will do as he pleases”[Daniel 11:36] And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the aGod of gods, and shall prosper till thebindignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. 14. He will show no regard for the religion of his ancestors [Daniel 11:37] 15. He will not believe in any god at all [except for himself] [Daniel 11:37] 16. He will have "no regard for the desire of women": [Dan 11:37] Some people have taken this to mean he will either be a-sexual or gay. I don't think along the sames lines. If taken within the same context as the preceding line and the one after it, it sounds more to me that he won't have any respect for the opinions of women. Women are great at directing the thoughts of the men,and shedding a new light on the subjects from behind the scenes. Perhaps this person will not listen to the common scense of Women because of his pride? 17. He will claim to be greater than any god [Daniel 11:37; 2 Thess 2:4] Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all. 18. He will claim to be God [2 Thessalonians 2:4] Who aopposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 19. He will conquer lands and distribute them [Daniel 11:39-44] 20. His arrival on the world scene will be accompanied by miracles, signs and wonders [2Thess 2:9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all apower and bsigns and lying wonders 21. Either he, or his companion [The False Prophet], will claim to be Christ [Matt 24:21-28] 22. He will claim that Jesus did not come in the flesh, or that Jesus did not rise bodily from the grave [2 John 7]. He will deny that Jesus is the Messiah [I John 2:22] (These following 2 aren't talking about THE antichrist, but instead are talking about general traits of common antichrists.) Who is a aliar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is bantichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. For many adeceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an bantichrist. 23. He will be worshipped by many people [Rev. 13:8] And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the abook of life of the bLamb slain from the cfoundation of the world. 24. He will hate a nation that initially will have some control over his kingdom, but he will destroy this nation [Rev 17:16-18] 25. He will appear to survive a fatal injury [Rev. 13:3; 17:8] And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 26. His name will be related to the number six hundred and sixty six—but not necessarily in an obvious fashion [Rev 13:17-18]. 27. He will be empowered by the devil himself [Rev. 13:2] And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his apower, and his seat, and great authority.
